Drama, mystery, excitement — all of these effects can be achieved
using black paper to letter on. The class will begin by exploring the
way black paper affects the color wheel. Using gouache, students will
mix a full spectrum of colors, always keeping in mind that these colors
can be used for lettering. Ruling lines, erasing lines and other tips
on how to use black paper for a finished piece will be covered. Colored
pencils, pearl-ex, and other experimental media will be explored. At
the end of class, students will compile a booklet of their samples
for future reference.

About the supply list:
Here are a few little things that I would add. If people want they
can share the gouache colors so that everyone doesn’t feel
that they have to buy new tubes. Three people can probably share
one tube...I will leave that up to you to work out the logistics.
You could probably do a group order for the paper. I recommend Steve
Kinsella in St. Louis for good prices. www.kinsellaartpapers.com
On the optional stuff -- it really is optional and I don’t want
people to go out and buy things and then feel disappointed
that they didn’t use them.
