Saturday & Sunday, January 13 & 14, 2007,
9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Come play and experiment! We'll be designing
letters that suit our own style (with guidance from the instructor).
Starting with monoline trial alphabet, students will become familiar
with shapes and proportions needed to form letters. Then, we will move
in other directions and decorate-texturize-colorize-accessorize to
our hearts content by using layers of color, masking and painting techniques & many
other fun embellishments.
Materials List: Paints (e.g. Prang sets or
watercolor tubes & small
w/c brushes #2 with a good point); mixing palettes or dishes & water
container, calligraphic/permanent Pigma pens; monoline pens, e.g. ballpoint/pencil/markers;
colored pencils & pastels; gel pens; gold foil/gold paints; Xacto
knife/cutting mat; pencil/eraser/ruler; kitchen sponge; a few rubber
stamps with textures/stamp pads; toothbrush (for splatters); paper towels;
layout bond; 1/2 sheet watercolor paper or tablet for finished work and
1/2 sheet of Arches text wove. Optional embossing stylus and extra embellishments.
Bring what you have, we'll all share.
