View & print the brochure to register. Pre-registration for AOCC is available only by mail. Lunch is included only through pre-registration. Deadline for pre-registration is October 10. No refunds after that date, but registration is transferable. All refunds subject to a $5 service fee. Returned checks are subject to a $20 service fee.

Registered attendees may take two classes. Over 16 experienced instructors will be teaching a wide variety of classes. Class sizes will be litmited, so register promptly on or after August 15.

Flourishing: A One-Day Workshop with Denis Brown

Tools and Materials: Broad edged calligraphy felt-tip markers, calligraphy dip-pens (Brause size 3mm & 4mm particularly suggested in addition to students' own preferred brand: we will also have a supply of Brause nibs available for purchase), ink, gouache paints, palette, mixing brushes, ruler, pencils, eraser, compass, paper for practice and one or two quality sheets.

You may bring a lunch or there are two restaurants nearby.

Take US 26 eastbound to the Sylvan exit 71a
Take the Sylvan exit #71A toward SW Scholls Ferry Rd - go 0.2 mi
Turn Left on SW Scholls Ferry Rd - go < 0.1 mi
SW Scholls Ferry Rd becomes SW Skyline Blvd - go 0.2 mi
Portland Fire & Rescue Station 16 will be on the left

From the east:
Take US-26 westbound toward Beaverton
Take the Sylvan exit #71B onto SW Skyline Blvd toward Sylvan - go 0.4 mi, turn right
Portland Fire & Rescue Station 16 will be on the left

Parking is limited. Please unload and park across the street, as a courtesy to the firemen, unless you need the handicap parking at the firehouse.

Additional workshops with Denis Brown

Denis will be teaching additional workshops in the Portland area beginning October 17. Portland Society for Calligraphy members will have registration preference until September 1, 2006 and then registration wil be open to non-members. We also welcome new members at any time.

4"x4" exhibit: What's Your Line?
Call for entries: we invite all calligraphers to share their artwork!

  • Finished piece maybe matted or not
  • Finished size must measure 4"x 4"
  • Must include lettering in some form
  • Open to any calligrapher, attendance not required
  • Name & address on back
  • Please prepare an identification tag for display measuring 2 1/2"x 1 1/4" . Include your name, title (if any) and materials used.
  • Mail with a self addressed stamped return envelope or arrange for a guild representative to pick it up your artwork.
  • You may enter up to 3 pieces
  • Mail no later than October 13

Show & share
All participants are invided to bring artwork to show & share. Each piece of artwork must be labeled. You will take your pieces with you when you leave.

The Portland Society of Calligraphers will again be selling books by John Neal, Bookseller at the All Oregon Calligraphy Conference. You are encouraged to pre-order books and supplies by browsing the John Neal website and then sending your list of requested items to Diane Flack. We have a limited number of partial scholarships available to high school and college students. To apply, send a letter in your everyday handwriting stating why you would like to attend. Include your name, telephone number, e-mail address and name of your school. Mail by September 10 to:
